As part of the annual safety
preparedness initiative, NTPC Darlipali conducts mock drills at regular
intervals of six months to ensure readiness in handling emergency situations
effectively. This exercise aimed to assess and enhance the preparedness of the
employees and stakeholders in managing emergency challenges.
The mock drill was conducted near the
Fire Oil Pump House (FOPH) area of the project. The scenario simulated a
potential major fire hazard due to electrocution, which could result from hot
work activity near the oil tank. The exercise provided crucial hands-on
experience to the personnel involved, ensuring that safety protocols and
emergency response mechanisms are effectively followed in case of an actual
incident.
To strengthen the emergency response
framework, NTPC Darlipali coordinated with its mutual aid partners, including
the Dulunga Mines Project and Vedanta Ltd. Their involvement in the drill
emphasized the importance of collaboration in emergency preparedness and
response.
The mock drill was organized in the
presence of the Head of the Project, Sh. Ram Bhajan Malik, GM (O&M) Sh.
Hare Ram Singh, Deputy Commandant of CISF, Sh. L. Mohanty, senior NTPC officials,
and security department officials. Their participation underscored NTPC’s
commitment to upholding the highest safety standards and ensuring the
well-being of its workforce and infrastructure.
NTPC Darlipali remains dedicated to
prioritizing safety and preparedness through regular training, drills, and
collaborative exercises. Such initiatives are integral to reinforcing a strong
safety culture and ensuring a swift and effective response to any emergency.
