A Palli Sabha was successfully conducted on Wednesday at Darlipali Gram Panchayat in Sundargarh district in connection with the proposed NTPC Darlipali Expansion Project. The meeting was held to discuss the forest land diversion proposal required for setting up an additional unit of 1×800 MW capacity.
The Palli Sabha was organised as part of the statutory requirements under the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006. The meeting was chaired by the Sarpanch of Darlipali Gram Panchayat and was attended by the Block Development Officer, Lephripara; Tahasildar, Lephripara; Forest officials from Nuadihi range; members of the Darlipali Forest Rights Committee; NTPC officials; and local villagers.
During the proceedings, NTPC representatives presented detailed information about the proposed expansion project and explained the necessity of forest land diversion. Villagers actively participated in the discussion and shared their views and suggestions. They also raised demands for additional developmental works and welfare measures under NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
NTPC officials informed the gathering about various development and welfare initiatives already undertaken by the company in Darlipali and nearby villages. They reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to inclusive growth and assured that such initiatives would continue in the future in line with the company’s sustainable development policy.
The Palli Sabha was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, strictly adhering to all applicable statutory guidelines.
