NTPC Darlipali successfully concluded its Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Summer Workshop-2025 with a grand ceremony held on June 4 at the project’s Konark Auditorium. The event was aimed at promoting holistic development and self-reliance among school-going girls from surrounding communities. The closing ceremony featured cultural performances, certificate distribution, and inspiring addresses by dignitaries.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri. Ram Bhajan Malik, Executive Director (NTPC Darlipali) as the Chief Guest, and Mrs. Poonam Malik, President of Abhilasha Ladies Club (Darlipali) as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Mr. Hare Ram Singh, General Manager (O&M), Mrs. Pratibha Singh, Head of HR, department heads, members of associations and clubs, the GEM participants, and their families.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Ram Bhajan Malik said, “I firmly believe that this training under GEM will bring a positive transformation in the lives of these young girls. They will achieve new milestones in their lives and inspire others around them to move forward. Educating daughters and empowering them in society is of utmost importance.”
Over a span of four weeks, 120 girls from nine government schools in villages like Darlipali, Raydihi, Chinchinda, Nuadih, Tilaimel, Loising, Laikera, Chhotabanga, and Kankatura participated in the training program. The workshop provided academic learning in English, Mathematics, and Science, along with sessions on environmental awareness, health and hygiene, computer literacy, arts, yoga, sports, self-defense, child rights, music, and personality development.
During the valedictory function, the girls showcased cultural performances and shared their personal experiences, expressing how the GEM initiative boosted their confidence and encouraged them to dream of a brighter future.
GEM (Girl Empowerment Mission) is a flagship CSR initiative of NTPC aimed at empowering young girls from government schools through education and skill development. Through this mission, NTPC Darlipali reaffirms its commitment to fostering equality, empowerment, and sustainable social transformation within its communities.
This initiative is not only bringing meaningful change in the lives of these girls but is also playing a pivotal role in shaping a more equitable and progressive society.
